Pottery Barn Area Rugs

Just before we went back to school we bought a condo and moved in. The dining room area was carpeted and with a 1 1/2 year old we new that wasn't going to last long. We couldn't afford to put in tile or wood floor so we decided to get a rug to go under the eating area. I love the look of the Pottery Barn rugs, but on a limited budget we really couldn't afford them. I ended up finding this website:

http://www.naturalarearugs.com/

They have beautiful pottery barn type rugs at affordable prices and if you watch they always have great sales. We found a great deal on a bamboo rug. (It's been almost 2 years so I don't remember how much I paid.) It been so perfect for us and it still looks brand new.

Introduction

A few things collided recently that made me think this type of forum is necessary:

* my husband and I had one of those scary "budgeting" chats!

* several of my friends had those scary chats with their husbands

* a lot of the blogs I was reading were being written by people my age and in my lifestyle bracket - but were featuring things that, no matter how pretty, fashionable, functional, would-absolutely-change-my-life-able they were, just weren't realistic for our newly decided budget.

That's where thrifty chic comes in - real tips and real experiences from real women in the same boat - raising children, planning their families and predominently living on one income - the kind of lives that are not featured in the weekly glossy magazines, but ones that we can all resonate with. The kind of lives that want beauty and excitement in them, at a fraction of the cost!

We hope this can be a place where we can share regular everyday examples of thrifty chic in action - not stinginess, just finding ways to be creative, innovative and contemplative with all kinds of things around us.
